Chocolate Brown Curtains

There are few additions to a home that add so much beauty, comfort and security as well-chosen window treatments. They complement your furniture, keep intrusive eyes from looking into your home at night and add a feel of luxury. Curtains, especially rich brown curtains, make your home more cozy, comfortable and attractive.

There is a wide range of colors within what is called browns. They range from light tan to dark chocolate. They can range from blue brown or brown suede curtains to scores of other shades. With a little time and effort you can select the one that looks best with your walls and furnishings. If, after a few years, you grow tired of that shade of brown, it is simple to change to another shade that compliments your home decor.

Drapes are valuable for those who need to darken their homes during the day. Opaque fabrics, which block out light, are valuable to those who need to sleep during the day and also for people who use some types of electronic equipment that works best in reduced light. When full daylight is desired, it is simple to pull aside the fabric and be able to see outside and to enjoy natural light.

Brown is a good color for curtains in households with busy schedules and active children because it does not readily show dust or stains. While it may be necessary to clean or wash curtains occasionally, it is good not to have some very light color that requires frequent attention in an area where kids like to look out the windows. It is also good to use a color that will not grow tiresome. Bright colors and trendy patterns can soon look dated and tacky. In home decoration, the “understated” approach is best for longevity and brings the longest lasting satisfaction.

Another good reason to choose this color is it is easy to coordinate with bedspreads, carpets, shower curtains and other aspects of your home. It is important not to use too many colors or too many patterns and get a “busy” effect. Simplicity is a standard rule of thumb for good taste and refinement. The White House is a good example of the look to strive for in home decorating. Upscale, high-end architectural magazines often depict the classic lines and muted colors that make for a beautifully decorated home.

There are many choices when it comes time to purchase new curtains and to decorate your home. Don’t be in too big a hurry to make a decision. What looks great at the moment you first see it may not appear so wonderful when viewed from the perspective of looking at it and using it for years. Take your time. Consult with family members who will be living in the home with you. You can do it; you can decorate your home to have a long-lasting beauty.
